Since I have finished reading Stuart Little I will be reading Eragon by Christopher Paulini.
The book starts out with an ambush. A shade (a creature with similar looks to humans but extremely more powerful, and evil), and urgals (brutish creatures)are waiting for an elven convoy. When the elves pass by they attack and slay all the elves, except the one who is holding the blue "stone". The elf knowing that the stone would be captured teleported it away.
The book changes scenes and now tells of Eragon hunting in the spire (a dangerous forest that is mysterious). Eragon is hunting so he can feed his family, but he is having no success. Eragon finds a blue "stone" and takes it with him, when he is not able to kill the deer. Eragon needs meat so he visits the local butcher: Sloan. Eragon is very poor so he offers Sloan the blue "stone". Sloan sends him away because the stone is from the spire, but Horst helps Eragon buy meat anyways. Intent on getting money Eragon, and his uncle Garrow take the stone to a merchant named Merlock. Merlock is not able to buy the "stone" because he does not know what it is for sure. That night Roran(Eragon's brother), Garrow, and Eragon listen to Brom(a local storyteller). Brom tells a story of how Galbatorix(the emperor) rose to power. One night when Eragon is in bed he hears noises and finds they are coming rom the "stone". All of a sudden the "stone" cracks and a dragon comes out! It was really an egg the entire time. Eragon doesn't want anyone to know about the dragon so he hides it in a tree and feeds it table scraps. He learns that he can communicate telepathically with the dragon.
For next week I will be reading a whole lot more. Brace yourself!

Haha everytime I saw the word "stone" in "", I could imagine you emphasizing it. Anyways, I read Eragon too. Overall it's a pretty good book but i thought it was too much of a copy of lord of the rings. The Ra'Zac or whatever they're called are like the black riders. And the there are elves and dwarves and stuff, which according to the descriptions resemble the ones from LOTR as well.
